Eicher Trucks, Buses to be assembled in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Aug 28, 2017 (BSS) – India’s Eicher brand commercial vehicles will be assembled in Bangladesh from next year at a state-of-the-art plant at Runner Motors, the country’s leading automobiles manufacturer. Initially, Eicher trucks and buses will be assembled at the plant. Gradually, Runner will add value like welding and painting to the vehicles and head towards manufacturing of commercial vehicles in the future.

Hafizur Rahman Khan, Chairman, Runner Motors Ltd, said this at a Meet the Press at the capital’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre today. During the Press Meet, Eicher and Runner announced partnership on setting up a state-of-the-art plant at Runner’s factory at Bhaluka in Mymensingh. Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, and Sohana Rouf Chowdhury, Managing Director, Rangs Motors Ltd, spoke at the Press Meet among others. VE Commercial Vehicles Limited is India’s one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers.

Replying to a query, Hafizur Rahman said Runner Motors has partnered with Eicher Trucks and Buses to start work on new completely knocked down (CKD) assembly facility. “We have invested in a training school for Eicher trucks and buses where we are able to effectively train technicians within Bangladesh, thus continuously upgrading their skills.” He said Bangladesh is a fast developing nation and with Eicher’s capability to provide vehicles with best in class fuel efficiency and higher productivity, they look forward towards continued synergy to modernize Bangladesh’s commercial vehicle industry.
